How to Be a Great Manager

First, Look at Yourself

People want to be instructed, taught and guided by someone they regard and respect, they do not want to be micro-managed. To build a successful team, here are some ideas from savvy managers.

1) To make your departments look impressive, simply hire intelligent people.

2) Because you cannot change a person’s everyday attitude and mindset, hire positive people.

3) Since threats diminish morale and lead to higher turnover rates, provide encouragement when you can.

4) Openly acknowledge your staff’s success because praise is powerful.

5) Your staff will learn and grow from their setbacks more than from their achievements, allow them to make errors without reprisal.

You must first be an effective teacher, coach, leader and encourager to your staff before you can become a successful manager.
