If you want to be heard by your staff you must first listen. One of the three most basic needs of humans is to be understood……and this is accomplished by listening. So before you can expect your staff to hear your message you must first hear and understand your staff.
This can be accomplished in a group setting and augmented by one-on-one meetings. Take a staff member to lunch and not discuss work….inquire about the individual’s interests and passions outside of the work –place. Taking time to develop a relationship with your employees is the first step in building a connection…..this in turn sets up your staff being in a position to hear your message.
