New Changes Coming to Cloud Security

By April 26, 2013 No Comments

With more and more businesses using the cloud to store information, security has become a major concern. The majority of our computer privacy law was written 30 years ago, when the web was not used to store private data, and has had no major changes.

That soon may change though as the Senate Judiciary Committee just approved S.B. 607, the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 2013, legislation that would require law enforcement to have a Probable Cause warrant to access your private information stored in the cloud. While there are still a few legal hurdles to jump through, S.B. 607 is on the fast track to becoming the law.
