Compliance Officer expectations first 12 months:
- Establish self as a business partner and leader – embedding into the EMEA executive group
- Implement a region-specific compliance risk assessment
- Develop EMEA compliance program based on results of risk assessment
Compliance Officer Responsibilities:
- Culture of Compliance: Oversee a comprehensive strategy and operational approach to establish a culture of accountability and compliance across all EMEA business groups and functions
- Risk Assessment: Execution of compliance risk assessment and set the strategic direction for Compliance activities based on the risk assessment results
- Risk Mitigation: Coordinate and lead risk mitigation activities through strategic advice, policy/procedure support, market-level training, communication campaigns
- Implementation of compliance policies and procedures for EMEA region, including code of conduct and applicable laws
- Provide commercially focused support and strategic guidance to EMEA heads of sales and operations
- Identify, train and leverage compliance champions in each major business location
- Drafting, review and negotiation of clinical study, research, training, sponsor/donation, consultancy and other non-sales contracts
- 3rd Party Support: Collaborate with necessary stakeholders to ensure the proper policies and oversight structures are in place to identify and mitigate risks related to third parties
Requirements of Compliance Officer:
- Education: Law degree required
- Language: Business English (both written/spoken) and other European languages an advantage
- Compliance topics: Must have compliance experience that was developed by working for a European or U.S. company – must be knowledgeable on issues of FCPA; UK Bribery Act; Risk Management; risk mitigation; 3rd party risk
- Compliance functional experience must include: Risk Assessments, Polices & Procedures, Code of Conduct, Training, Investigations, Drafting and Review of Non-Sales Contracts
- Industry experience: Require experience in medical device industry, pharmaceutical or biotechnology
- Soft skills: Must be confident, business focused, partnering mentality, strong communicator, ability to simplify the complex, influence senior management to drive sustainable approach to ethics and compliance
