Expectations first 12 months:
• Develop collaborative relationships with peers, colleagues, direct reports and business partners
• Lead the development and implementation of legal privacy strategies impacting commercial businesses and functions for the EMEA region
Responsibilities:
• Reporting to the Global Chief Privacy Officer, responsible for the oversight, development and implementation of data protection and privacy strategy in the EMEA region
• Provide leadership and direction within the global privacy, implements best practice standards and guidance, driving a privacy compliant culture within the region
• Provide strategic advisement to the business and functions on a wide range of privacy matters and issues, including but not limited to, the application of local and regional data privacy and protection laws
• Provide leadership and strategic support for issues arising from Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs), cross-border data transfers, consent requirements and cookie compliance, and strategic commercial engagements
• Establish effective, practical controls with respect to legal and ethical data collection, management, and storage
• Lead privacy support for business development and research and development activities, including advising on product development, third-party vendor risks, and data sharing arrangements
• Direct privacy related investigations and coordinates data breach responses
• Monitor, respond to and proactively engage with industry associations, law makers, works councils, and regulators on developments in data protection
• Create and lead the global cross-functional privacy governance team including any local or regional DPOs
• Establish and support contract management process to proactively identify, evaluate and manage risks and enable the organization to deliver sustainable business growth
• Oversee all aspects of the enterprise cross-border data sharing strategy, including intracompany data sharing arrangements and onward transfer agreements
• Respond to inquiries from regulators, enforcement agencies, and data protection authorities
• Remain current in legal requirements and best data management practices, resources, and technology solutions, including active engagement with other industry peers and privacy professionals
• Provide regular reports on KPIs and metrics to Senior Privacy Counsel, Corporate Compliance Committee, Senior Business Leaders, and other key stakeholder groups as needed
• Create and lead a regional cross-functional privacy governance team to include any local or regional DPOs
• Advise on privacy implications of strategic partnerships, M&A activities and post-acquisition integrations
• Supporting the recruitment, selection, training and on-going performance management of privacy talent
Qualifications:
• Essential Education: Bachelor’s Degree & Legal Degree (JD, LLB, LLM, etc.)
• You will bring several years of privacy legal and/or compliance experience from an international business setting
