In the interest of productivity, it’s worth it to cool your heels now and then.
SHRM recently conducted a study of 481 randomly selected members and found that most HR professionals agree on the benefits of employees fully utilizing their allotted vacation time. As it happens, when employees use vacation time to relax and take a rest from work, the advantages are many, including higher productivity and morale, improved retention rates and a boost in employee performance and wellness.
The bottom line is: recharged, well-balanced employees who aren’t flirting with burnout have a direct, positive impact on the bottom line.
So encourage your staff to leave nothing on the table. Personal days – or better yet, vacations – are proven to reduce stress and all its resultant ailments, from irritability to insomnia and depression.
