Looking for a job can be a long, grueling process.
Perpetual job searching on multiple sites, filling out the same tedious application over and over and over, and then waiting.
So what really goes on behind the doors of these companies? Is your application actually getting seen? How does the hiring process work?
These are all questions applicants ask themselves as they wait weeks, sometimes months, for any sort of response.
Many companies use recruiters to find suitable employees, but the time it takes to weed out the potentials, how they pick them out, and the number of interviews varies from company to company.
Some applicants never hear anything at all from company’s and are left in the dark as to whether their application was even received.
In my personal experience, patience is key. After graduating college, I applied to about ten jobs every day, including weekends.
I was determined to find the perfect job right away! Having to enter in multiple user names and passwords for each company website and fill out the same application, what felt like a million times got tiring!
Weeks and months went by, and finally I got a call, then an interview!
The whole time though, there was a stream of emails all saying how the positions had been filled but to continue checking back for further job openings.
It’s a stressful situation to be in, especially with today’s economy, but when that one set of eyes sees your application, that could be it!
