Expectations first 12 months:
• Develop strong working relationships and partnerships with key executive management team members
• Continue in the development of robust and dynamic policies and procedures
• Work alongside General Counsel and other legal team members in driving forward projects and change strategies
• Manage and coordinate regulatory examinations and direct regulator interaction as necessary
Responsibilities:
• Lead attorney for mortgage servicing business line – covering a portfolio of over 130,000 loans
• Provide analysis and counsel for a wide range of legal matters, including advising on risk reduction, regulation interpretation, contract creation, negotiations, and litigation. Anticipate and guard against legal risks facing the company
• Develop and recommend company policy and position on legal issues
• Provide direct counsel on protecting intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, financial structuring, nondisclosure agreements, outsourcing agreements, business strategic planning
• Provide leadership and strategy for the legal team
• Manage legal relationships with business units and outside counsel
Requirements:
• JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school is essential
• Minimum of ten years of mortgage servicing legal experience is required, or equivalent relatable law firm experience
• Admission to a state bar with an active membership in good standing
• You must be comfortable working within a lean, autonomous organization – working at speed and meeting business expectations
• Strong understanding of CFPB rules and regulations, and demonstrable knowledge of and practical experience with laws such as RESPA, TILA, FCRA, FACTA, ECOA, EFTA, HOEPA and Dodd-Frank
